Max Maçoro was born in Istanbul in 1959. During the years 1973 -76 he started painting with Kemal Zeren. In 1977 he graduated from the French High School St Michel and went to Paris for his university studies. 

This is where he first started making his large scale oil paintings, while studying business administration and art history at the American University in Paris. During this time he studied painting, sculpture, photography and cinema with teachers Paul Jenkins, Robert Bishop and Gideon Bachman. 

He returned to Istanbul in 1982 . For few years he studied sculpture at Zerrin Bölükbaşı’s workshop, and oil painting with Esat Tekand. Between the years 1991-97 he opened five personal exhibitions of his paintings and also participated in a number of group exhibitions. His works can be found in various collections in all over the world.
